art I: There is Nothing Objective Out There!

The boy looks at the spoon and it starts to bend and flow as if it is malleable, something between solid and liquid. Neo looks on quizzically. The boy hands over the spoon to Neo to try.

Boy: Do not try and bend the spoon. That’s impossible. Instead… only try to realize the truth.

Neo: What truth?

Boy: There is no spoon.

Neo: There is no spoon?

Boy: Then you’ll see that it is not the spoon that bends, it is only yourself. – The Matrix

The above is a very intriguing scene from The Matrix, where the message the boy is giving Neo is that there is no objective world, it is just a projection of our mind. It is our subjective reality, and as we want it to bend, it bends. Take a look at this:

… Hard to swallow, isn’t it?

For most people, the physical objective reality is very real. Probably if there is anything that you are fully convinced about, it is this physical reality which seems independent of you, very solid, stable and real. There would be very few who would challenge this statement. So, in the very first part of this book, I take upon myself the not-so-popular task of shaking up this fundamental belief. It is not that I always believed in what I’m going to share with you in this part, or for that matter the entire book, rather this truth has grown over me with time.....
